2024-25 Itinerant Teachers for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing

Position: Itinerant Teachers of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
Location: Hopewell Center | Southern Ohio Educational Service Center

The Southern Ohio Educational Service Center is currently seeking multiple licensed Itinerant Teachers of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing for the 2024-2025 school year.

General Description: Selected candidates will provide supplemental aids and services necessary to enable students who are deaf/hard of hearing to progress in the general curriculum and advance appropriately toward achieving educational goals.

Qualifications:
  1. Ohio Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Educator Licensure/Certification (Ohio Intervention Specialist Hearing Impaired PK-12 Licensure)
  2. Training and/or experience in teaching children/youth who are hearing impaired and working effectively with educators and families.
  3. Demonstrates basic sign skills expressively and receptively (conversational) and/or advancing towards sign proficiency.
  4. Must pass a criminal background check.
  5. Current driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Interested candidates must possess proper licensure or the ability to obtain Intervention Specialist Hearing Impaired PK-12 Licensure through the Ohio State Board of Education.

Position: Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs)

The Southern Ohio Educational Service Center is currently seeking multiple licensed Speech-Language Pathologists for the 2024-2025 school year to join our Speech-Language Pathologist Team.

Current Openings for the 2024-2025 school year:
  • 1 SLP to serve in the East Clinton Local School District (Clinton County)
  • 1 SLP to serve in the Washington Court House City School District (Fayette County)

General Description: Under administrative direction, the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) identifies, evaluates, and prepares activities for students who exhibit speech, language, and articulation delay/disabilities; participates in the development of individualized goals and objectives; and evaluates student progress.  Reference the job description linked below for additional information.

Paraprofessional (Southern Ohio Learning Center.)

Position: Paraprofessional

Location: Southern Ohio Learning Center | Southern Ohio Educational Service Center

General Description:

Under immediate supervision of the classroom teacher/Intervention Specialist, the selected candidate would work with students with disabilities and/or typical students in a one-on-one situation or small group situation providing instruction for personal care and/or the use of instructional aides, assist in the preparation of activities and projects, monitor student activities, use positive guidance techniques, and participate in evaluation team meets when requested.  Reference the job description linked below for additional information.

Qualifications:

  1. High School diploma, an Associate’s degree, or 48 college semester hours, or 72 college quarter hours, or pass the ETS paraprofessional test.

  2. Possess an Ohio State Board of Education Educational Aide License or have the ability to attend the correct licensure.

  3. Training and/or experience which evidences basic knowledge of email and computer applications.

  4. Demonstrates a sincere desire to aid all students and work in cooperation with the lead classroom teacher/Intervention Specialist.

  5. Strong organizational and communication skills.

  6. Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with a team.

  7. Basic knowledge of mental health and wellness practices is preferred.

  8. Must have a phone for communication purposes.

  9. Current driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Position: Intervention Specialist

Location: Southern Ohio Learning Center (SOLC) | Southern Ohio Educational Service Center

General Description: Under general supervision, the Intervention Specialist will assess and evaluate developmental levels of students, plan and implement Individual Education Plans, provide appropriate instruction and personal care for assigned students, work collaboratively with paraprofessionals and other staff, communicate effectively with families, and prepare and maintain required reports.  Reference the job description linked below for additional information.

  1. Bachelor’s degree.

  2. Valid Ohio K-12 Intervention Specialist Teaching license or the ability to obtain through Supplemental or Alternative Licensure pathways.

Highland County ACCESS/Workforce Development Director (full-time position)

Position: Highland County ACCESS/Workforce Development Director (full-time position)

Location: Hopewell Center/Highland County | Southern Ohio Educational Service Center

General Description: Under administrative direction, the ACCESS (Alignment of Community Connections for Employers and Student Success)/Workforce Development Director will work with the Highland County Workforce Leadership Council, the Southern Ohio ESC Business Advisory Council, and partnering school districts, businesses, and community partners to:

  1. Develop the talent pipeline;

  2. Engage with the current workforce, local employers, and education providers;

  3. Coordinate the efforts of the Highland County Workforce Leadership Council and Highland County Business Advisory Council;

  4. Marshal community resources;

  5. Provide a wide view of the current workforce development landscape for community agencies, organizations, businesses, and schools;

  6. See beyond the existing network to think about who else should be involved, and how;

  7. Increase the Workforce Leadership Council’s capacity for the number of students reached and the impact on businesses and the local workforce; and,

  8. Expand funding opportunities through grant applications and other sources to allow the program to continue to grow.

Job Description: ACCESS/Workforce Development Director (Highland County)

Salary Range: $50,000 to $58,000 (full-time, 12-month contract)

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in education or a business-related field.

  2. Possess and maintain required valid Ohio State Board of Education license or permit.

  3. Three to five years of workforce development and project management experience preferred.

  4. K-16 education and business experience preferred.

  5. Possess proven success in working with educators, businesses, local government officials, service providers, and community development organizations.

  6. Must pass a criminal background check.
